March 2019 (Genesis – Key Stories)
Learning From the Stories of Genesis
As we continue our Genesis series, I want to focus on some of the key stories that teach us about faith, obedience, and God’s faithfulness. Each story offers lessons that are still relevant today.
1. Creation – God’s Order and Purpose
Genesis 1 shows us a God who creates with intention and care. Everything He made has a purpose. In our lives, this reminds us that even when things feel messy or uncertain, God is working to bring order, beauty, and meaning. Take a moment to notice the “Creations” in your life — the gifts, talents, and relationships God has entrusted to you.
2. Abraham – Trusting God’s Promises
Abraham’s journey was full of waiting, uncertainty, and challenge. Yet he trusted God’s promises. His story reminds us that faith often requires patience and obedience, even when we don’t fully understand the path. What promises from God are you holding onto today, even when the outcome isn’t clear?
3. Joseph – God’s Faithfulness in the Hard Times
Joseph’s story is one of betrayal, hardship, and exile, yet God’s plan never failed. He turned suffering into purpose, and eventually Joseph became a blessing to many. This reminds us that even in difficult seasons, God is at work behind the scenes, shaping our story for His glory.
Reflection for Today:
Genesis shows us beginnings — beginnings of the world, beginnings of faith, beginnings of God’s plan for His people. Every story teaches us that God is faithful, even when life is uncertain, even when waiting feels long, and even when circumstances seem impossible.
As you read Genesis this month, consider:
- Where do you need to trust God more fully?
- How can you respond in faith, even in challenging situations?
- What small acts of obedience can you commit to today that align with God’s plan?
Genesis is just the start of our journey through the Bible. Each story points to God’s heart, His faithfulness, and His desire for relationship with us. May this month be a time to reflect, apply, and grow in trust.
